Vintage & Morelli and Arielle Maren grace us with “Breathe,” the third and final pre-album single, ahead of Vintage & Morelli’s “Hymn To The Night” album release. The pair have never been short on musical chemistry, and “Breathe” proves to be another memorable addition to their extraordinary list of collaborative works.

A sturdy uptempo groove sets the arrangement off on a strong foot, as Vintage & Morelli crafts a foreboding soundscape through the use of darker instrumental motifs. The first line of Arielle’s opening verse, “Within this world of mystical wonder,” further enhances the moody, almost haunted aura of the arrangement, symbolizing the dark cloud of anger that often overtakes us all. In the main breakdown, Arielle delivers the titular hook: “Just breathe / Let it in / Just breathe / Let it out / Just breathe / Feel the rage dissipate.” It’s a wonderful reminder that we have more control over our own mental states than we often recognize, if only through the restorative power of breathing. The stormy, exhilarating drop to follow, with Arielle’s breathing effects in the background, proves cathartic for the song’s central protagonist and listeners alike.
